Aloha and Good Morning,

For quite some time I’ve tried to grasp the mechanism by which manifestation works. I’ve pondered about mountains and mustards seeds, intention, perception and experiential reality. I’ve considered the evidence of scientific experiments and the insights of religious mystics. I’ve needed that one little something to make the simple yet slippery concepts actually accessible in my daily life. Something was missing from my conceptual framework to tie it all together.

Much like Expedience *, tossed from the current into the air, I’ve felt glimpses of things unfathomable, magnificent and breath-taking. I’ve longed to experience them more directly, more fully. Alas, even as Expedience could not breathe the outside air without the softening influence of water, I could not hold the magnificence presented to me, losing it in the swirling interference of less than fully congruent thinking, belief and behavior patterns. Unlimited potentiality surrounds me, I know it; I feel it. I feel the weight of an eternal sea of pure potential swirling through me from which all that is actualizes and through which God and all the varied levels of the Divine down to and including you and me act and interact on all the planes of creation. How do I reach out and grasp the ungraspable?

In my mind I see a pebble tossed into a pond and watch its waves flow outward until they reach the shore and bounce back. I see two rocks dropped and watch as each swell flows out. The ripples that crash into each other create complex patterns of interference resulting in waves greater than at first, in troughs deeper than before and in places of still water where each swell cancels out the other completely.

Suddenly, something clicked into place.

We are the pebble; everything else is the pond upon which the ripples of our passages are reflected. We are forever falling into this pond, sending out waves. For this picture to be more complete, think of each person as not one stone falling into the water; rather, think of each individual as a collection of many stones, like a handful of pebbles tossed by a child into a lake, each creating its own pattern of ripples and waves.

When our intention, our desires, our hopes and our dreams are clear and focused – the soul collective of our pebbles is magnetically drawn together, as tightly bundled as freshly formed rice crispy treats, and falls with a single force into the pond. This one clear impact creates one clear series of concentric circles rippling outward without interference. When the energy of that single wave of desire reaches the shore of our higher nature it automatically manifests into our lives. On the other hand, when our intentions are diffracted by contrary programming and negative emotions splashing up from our unconscious, counter to our waking thoughts, each pebble part drops individually into the sea of universal potentiality that is our pond. Each pebble part creates its own pattern of swells that broadcast outward until they encounter and interact with the waves created by our other pebble parts and the pebble parts of everyone else in our sphere of inter-connectivity. This counter-clashing of potentiality will create greater waves, lesser waves or perhaps the merging of opposite forces will cancel themselves out leaving a place of no movement at all.

When we feel stuck, when we are not manifesting the object of our desires, (or at least not in the way we think we ought to) could it be that the pebble parts we are dropping into the pond, the positive and negative projections of our internal process, have canceled each other out and therefore no movement, no change flows into our lives? Change is analogous to the energy of the wave reaching the shore of our higher nature, where it is refined and flows back into the created world as something different than before.

Could it be that if our dreams recede, pulled just out of our reach, that internal conflict has created such powerful rip-tide troughs that we are actually pulled further and further away? The unconscious undertow steals the energy of our outer desire, making the ripple of that small pebble part too weak to reach the shore. On the other hand, magic happens when our inner and outer thoughts fall together and their twin patterns magnify each other. Those are the moments when we find ourselves truly in the flow of the current.

How do we create harmony in our pebble parts so that the waves we continuously project outward from ourselves carry the image of our conscious desires and intentions all the way to the shore with enough energy to fuel the manifestation process? Acting as a gentle, loving parent to all the pebble parts, deep listening to all our inner voices, is one powerful process we can use. Another is to breathe life into our intentions and desires and to hold them gently in our space of awareness.

Say we desire to relate to people at a deeper level. Or say we desire to handle conflict with our partners better by relating to the divine that lies within them and responding to their core need to feel reassured, loved and accepted rather than their outward behavior. Who wouldn’t want to have their deepest core needs addressed? Alas the emotions of conflict often extract a terrible price against even the finest of intentions and we fall back on habitual reaction patterns that fail to bring about the response we desire in either ourselves or our partners. How does one tighten the pebble parts that are producing such mixed results?

Clear intention is a stone that drops cleanly into the pond. Herein lays the key. Holding the intention to handle conflict better opens the doorway of manifestation by guaranteeing that the universe, the divine will provide a multitude of opportunities to practice our reaction to conflict. By holding the intention to handle conflict better, our chances of remembering that we want to do it differently are increased dramatically when the fiery flames of conflict engulf us. Just being able to remember our intention in that moment of conflict is a fabulous first step. We may not be able to follow through, that time. But we remembered – how wonderful!

Soon, by holding firmly to our intention not only do we remember every time it comes up, but we begin to find ways to act upon it as well. Maybe not every time, or every moment, yet we are beginning to do things differently! Eventually, by holding a firm intention we will have learned and then mastered that area of our lives.

If conflict is a constant, like the speed of light, then there will always be the same relative amount of conflict in our lives. Remember the laws of duality and opposites. The opposites in our lives will always seek a state of rest, a state of balance. So if conflict is a constant then what changes is not the amount of conflict in our lives, but rather our reaction to it. I believe this same principle of intention leading to manifestation through the gradual reprogramming of the waves we project upon the pond of potentiality, the gradual tightening of the pebble parts we cast upon the water, functions the same way whether we desire to work on our relationships or bring a shinny, new convertible into our garage.

May we all gain awareness of our “pebble parts,” and through our innate creative ability hold the intentions that most fully serve our needs and desires whether for cars, cash or positive change in our lives. May those ripples reach the shore and may we all have a powerful, positive and peace filled day.

With Love and Aloha,
